Growing your client base on Shrut

Strategies to increase visibility, repeat bookings, and long-term client relationships.

1

Growth on Shrut comes from two sources

New bookings come from search discovery and referrals. Optimising your profile increases discovery. Delivering exceptional sessions drives referrals and repeat bookings. Both compound over time.

2

Optimise for search discovery

When a user searches for "fundraising expert" or "product strategy", Shrut surfaces experts based on relevance, rating, and activity. You can improve your discoverability by:

  • Using specific keywords in your bio that match how clients search (e.g., "Series A fundraising", "SaaS growth")
  • Selecting the most relevant domain and sub-tags during profile setup
  • Staying active — experts who accept bookings quickly rank higher
  • Earning reviews — rating is a major ranking factor
3

Convert profile visitors into bookings

Your profile conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who book a session. The primary levers are a compelling headline, an outcome-focused bio, and a clear description of what clients will get. Look at your profile analytics (available in your dashboard) and experiment with different headlines if your conversion rate is low.

4

Drive repeat bookings

A client who books once is far more valuable as a repeat client. At the end of every session, plant the seed: "Once you have worked through these action items, we could do a follow-up session to review progress." Suggest a specific timeframe (e.g., "in 3–4 weeks") so it feels concrete.

  • End every session with a suggested follow-up timeframe
  • Send a check-in message 2–3 weeks after the session
  • Reference what they were working on — show you remember them
5

Ask for referrals

Clients who are happy with your sessions will refer friends and colleagues — but only if you ask. After a successful session, try: "If you know anyone else who is dealing with [problem area], I'd be glad to help them too." Most experts never ask. Those who do grow 2–3x faster.

6

Build a presence outside the platform

Share your Shrut profile on LinkedIn and in communities relevant to your domain. Write occasional posts about topics in your area of expertise and include your profile link. This brings external traffic to your profile and builds your personal brand simultaneously.

  • Post 1–2 times per week on LinkedIn about your area of expertise
  • Link to your Shrut profile in your LinkedIn bio
  • Engage in relevant online communities (Slack groups, forums, Twitter)
  • Write a short article on a topic you get asked about most
